Kazakhstan Adoption Program
Our Kazakhstan adoption program continues to grow in popularity. Children available for adoption are healthy infants, toddlers, and school-aged children, as well as older and special needs children, and represent a variety of ethnicities including Asian, Eurasian, and Caucasian. The children reside in orphanages.
Great News! AIAA has opened additional regions in Kazakhstan and is anticipating the adoption process to move very quickly!

The Adoption Process
- Adoptive applicant(s) submit their AIAA Application for Adoption to AIAA with the $200 (non-refundable) application fee.
- The AIAA Application Review Team assesses all applications and approves applicants based on the information found within the Application.
- Upon Application acceptance and approval, adoptive applicants are sent the AIAA Kazakhstan Adoption Guide and Registration Packet to insure adoptive applicants receive information on the Kazakhstan adoption process and the documents and training necessary to complete an international adoption through Kazakhstan.
- AIAA assigns adoptive applicants to an AIAA Adoption Consultant. The Consultant assists adoptive applicants in completing all the necessary paperwork to complete a Kazakhstan Dossier. The Consultant also provides information on the adoption process to the adoptive family.
- Upon Kazakhstan Dossier completion, adoptive applicants submit the dossier to AIAA.
- The dossier is reviewed at the AIAA office and forwarded for legal and translation review. The dossier is then submitted to the Kazakhstan Consulate for authentication. Later the dossier file is submitted to the Ministry of Education for review and acceptance.
- Both parents are required to travel to Kazakhstan to adopt their child(ren) through court.
- Laws are constantly changing; currently Kazakhstan required a mandatory 14 day visitation with the child before adoption finalization. Many regions in Kazakhstan are implementing a 15 day mandatory waiting period. In some regions two trips (1st trip 5 weeks, 2nd trip 2 weeks) are required. Other regions require 3 trips (1st trip 3 weeks, 2nd trip 1 week, 3rd trip 2 weeks). Travel dates can often vary. Families are made aware of their travel options before flying to Kazakhstan.
- Once travel dates are confirmed AIAA advises the adoptive family about the next steps involved in completing the adoption and provides assistance to the adoptive family in order to prepare them for their adoption journey.
After travel dates are confirmed, an AIAA representative assists the adoptive applicant in:
- Obtaining visas to travel to Kazakhstan
- Packing for their trip
- Collecting the documentation needed for their embassy appointment
- Coaching the adoptive applicant about the steps involved in completing the adoption while in Kazakhstan
- Answering last minute questions about the adoptive applicant's trip to Kazakhstan
- Adoptive parents are greeted in Kazakhstan by an English speaking AIAA staff member. Parents are with AIAA translators and coordinators while in the country and escorted through all proceedings. Families often travel in groups.
